Language should never block mental health care. Shanti Orange County offers Spanish-language pathways across counseling, HIV services, and community groups, for Santa Ana residents and neighbors throughout Orange County.
Counseling en Español
Through intake, you can request mental health counseling in Spanish with clinicians who serve the Latino community. Topics often include family stress, immigration-related anxiety, grief, trauma, and living with HIV, in the language you think and feel in.

Insurance: Many plans including CalOptima accepted for eligible services; low-cost $65/$100 sessions if uninsured.
Telehealth: Available statewide for eligible clients when Spanish-speaking clinicians have openings.
Case Management in Spanish
HIV case managers help with medical linkage, Medi-Cal/CalOptima paperwork, housing, and pharmacy issues. Spanish-speaking staff support clients who prefer navigating benefits without translation lag.

Why Language-Matched Care Matters
Translated appointments can help, but thinking in Spanish during trauma work, parenting crises, or HIV disclosure often reaches deeper layers. Shanti built Círculo Latino and bilingual staffing because Orange County's Latino community deserves more than translated pamphlets.

Círculo Latino: los detalles
Primer martes de cada mes, 5:30 a 7 pm. Gratis y abierto. No necesitas ser cliente de Shanti para participar; cualquier persona de habla hispana es bienvenida.
Es un espacio cálido, arraigado en la comunidad latina, para conectar, compartir y encontrar recursos, sin barreras de idioma. Se lleva a cabo completamente en español.
Consejería individual en español
El grupo no reemplaza la terapia individual. Shanti ofrece consejería individual, de pareja, de grupo y familiar, y el equipo trabaja en inglés, español, farsi e hindi.
Las tarifas de bajo costo son de $65 por sesión con un terapeuta no licenciado y $100 con un terapeuta licenciado. Trabajamos con muchos planes de seguro, incluyendo CalOptima, para los servicios elegibles. La verificación se hace durante el proceso de admisión.

Why Language-Matched Care Is Not a Convenience
For English-speaking family members reading this: matching language is not about smoothing the appointment along. Describing panic, grief, or shame in a second language changes what can be said at all. People translate themselves into simpler, flatter versions, and the clinician receives a summary instead of the thing.
That is the argument for a Spanish-only room rather than an interpreted one. Círculo Latino is conducted entirely in Spanish for that reason.
How to Ask for It
Say it on the first call. Intake can match you to a Spanish-speaking clinician from the start rather than reassigning you after a session that did not work.
