Dr. Lindsay Fitzpatrick to Lead Shanti Orange County as Executive Director
September 19, 2017 – Shanti announced today that Dr. Lindsay Fitzpatrick will succeed long time Executive Director Sarah Kasman to lead Shanti. Sarah Kasman, who has led Shanti for 24 years, says “over the last two years Lindsay has transformed our mental health service programs, improved our delivery and service model, and has successfully engaged in medical reimbursement programs that are now a cornerstone to growing our organization to better serve our community.” Lindsay, a licensed clinical psychologist, will assume the role of Executive Director on December 1, 2017.
Shanti celebrates its 30-year anniversary as it continues its mission to enhance the health and well-being of those affected by HIV/AIDS, mental health concerns, and other chronic diseases through prevention, education, and life-saving support services. The world today is vastly different than in 1987, and with new board and executive leadership, it is positioned to expand and serve the next generation.
Lindsay, dedicated to the HIV and LGBTQ communities, says “through this opportunity I can fulfill my personal mission of helping those with HIV/AIDS and mental health concerns, and I look forward to my expanded role with the community and fulfilling Sarah’s legacy.”
Sarah, who began with Shanti in 1991, has led a life of dedicated compassionate service. She has led Shanti through lean times, witnessed the devastation of the disease, the change in care delivery as survivorship increased, and has fearlessly transformed the organization to meet each hurdle. As Sarah begins the next great chapter of her life, we will miss her dearly.
