WHY VOLUNTEER?
- Shanti Orange County’s ‘Caring Heart’ Volunteers form the foundation of
our organization. - Since the agency’s inception in 1987, volunteers have played a central role
in the delivery of services and support to our clients.
There are many great reasons to sign up as a Shanti Volunteer today!
- Shanti Orange County is a small, grass-roots organization, and there is always
a lot of work to be done. We need volunteers’ talents, skills and ideas. - Volunteers report that they get back much more than they give.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
Home Delivered Meals Drivers
Monday – Friday, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm in the Laguna Beach area.
- Use own vehicle, require a valid Californian Driver’s license, Auto Registration
and Proof of Auto insurance.
Transportation for Medical Appointments
- Drive clients to and from medical appointments.
- Monday to Friday during business hours.
- Use own vehicle, require a valid Californian Driver’s license, Auto Registration
and Proof of Auto insurance.
Office Assistance
- Assist staff in the office – phones, data entry, word processing, reception.
- 2-3 hour shifts, days and times negotiable.
Newsletter and Bulk Mail Working Group
- Collate our newsletter on a week day morning once a month.
- Help prepare bulk mailings twice a year.
Fund Raising Committee
Join a dynamic event planning and fund raising committee that meets at
Shanti on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 4.30pm – 6pm.
Special Events Volunteer
Volunteers assist at special events including AIDSWALK, Sea of Hearts, fund
raising events and at monthly educational seminars.
Complementary Therapists
- Volunteers offer reiki and massage to our clients once or twice a month
at various times. - Therapists are required to have training and experience in the complementary therapy they are offering to clients.
Psychological Counselors
Licensed clinical psychologists provide group and individual therapy for clients
on a voluntary basis.
Professional Services Support
Professional services that volunteers may provide include: photography, graphic
art, computer support, web site design and maintenance, event coordination/fund
raising assistance, video production, disk jockey, performers and power point presentation design.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Shanti Orange County offers undergraduate students internship positions throughout the year.
- Interns assist with the administration of all programs, services and events.
- Shanti is an internship site for UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton and Cal State
Long Beach. - Interns gain experience in the non-profit sector and learn about issues
and treatment related to HIV and AIDS.
