Shanti’s Mutual Help Groups

A special presentation

Office Assistants

Our office volunteers help with a variety of tasks, including answering phones, making calls to clients, performing general administrative tasks, photocopying, faxing, conducting internet research, drafting correspondence and promotional materials and helping with special projects. Some office assistants also help with general light cleaning and up-keep of our agency.

Special Events

Our Special Event volunteers play an important part in the execution of our fundraising events. Volunteers may help with a variety of tasks, including setting up, registering guests, meeting and greeting guests, assisting with silent and live auctions or raffles, handing out programs, and helping with event breakdown. Events include large annual fundraising events and smaller, on-going events such as educational seminars.

Shanti Ambassadors for Community Outreach

Outreach • Prevention • Advocacy
The Shanti Ambassadors are a group of trained volunteers that work to promote Shanti’s life-enhancing HIV/AIDS programs and services and tell the HIV/AIDS story to the greater Orange County community, by attending speaking engagements, health fairs and many other community activities. Please contact (949)452-0888 or admin@shantioc.org for more information about joining the Shanti Ambassadors.

If you don’t see a volunteer opportunity here that you are looking for, contact us! Shanti is always on the look-out for people with specialized skills and knowledge to help with special projects. We welcome volunteers with a variety of skills, professional or practical, including (but certainly not limited to) video and photography, graphic design, career counseling, journalism writing, tax accounting, etc.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact admin@shantioc.org or call 949.452.0888.

Internships

Shanti Orange County offers undergraduate students internship positions throughout the year. Interns assist with the administration of all programs, services and events. Shanti serves as an internship site for UC Irvine, Cal State University Fullerton, Chapman University and Saddleback College. It’s a great way to gain valuable experience in the nonprofit sector while learning about HIV/AIDS.

For more information or to apply, please contact admin@shantioc.org or call 949.452.0888.

Be a part of something big.

Shanti Orange County’s ‘Caring Heart’ Volunteers form the foundation of our organization. The Shanti Model was founded on the principle of utilizing volunteers to provide emotional support and assistance to people living with life-threatening illnesses. Since the agency’s beginning in 1987, Shanti volunteers have played an essential role in the delivery of services and support to our clients. We are often asked how we are able to do so much with such a small staff. The answer is clear- without the great work of our caring heart volunteers we could not exist! We are most grateful to our many hard-working Caring Heart Volunteers for all they do every day on behalf of Shanti and our clients.
